Sarah Josey is a Clinical Herbalist & Nutritionist and owner of Golden Poppy Herbal Apothecary.
Sarah began her journey as a healer when studying biochemistry at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. Partway through the program she felt a need to find a healing method that was closer to the rhythms of nature; one that worked with a person’s body and the wisdom innate in us all. Shortly thereafter she began attending the North American Institute of Medical Herbalism (Now called CSCH) in Boulder, CO where she completed their two-year program to become a Clinical Herbalist and Clinical Nutritionist.
Her love of working with clients, as well as being in an environment where people could come to learn about natural health options, inspired her to open the Golden Poppy Herbal Apothecary in Fort Collins in 2012.
Sarah’s clinical practice combines a blend of traditional herbalism and wisdom as well as the latest research and knowledge on herbs and nutrition. In this way she has the ability to use what has worked for centuries by traditional healers as well as the many advancements that the modern health field has to offer, creating a blend that is as adaptable and personalized as each of her clients.
Throughout the years she developed a love for holding sacred space and co-leads regular seasonal circles, as well as retreats, that facilitate our ability to drop into the present moment and connect with ourselves, others, and the world that holds us.
She completed training on holding sacred space through the Wild Women Project, an international network of circles that gather each new moon. The project is centered around the ideas of Sisterhood (having each others backs, empowering one another), respect for the earth (wildness, turning to nature as a teacher) & co-creation (the understanding that just as we co-create our experience in circle, so do we co-create life on earth). She is a Red Drum Carrier, Menarche Ceremony Holder, Mother Roaster, and Expecting Couples Class instructor, and more. She also contributed several recipes to the book The Sacred Medicine Cupboard and offers almost everything you need to create your very own cupboard here.
In addition to her Clinical Herbalist certification, she is a Precision Nutrition Level 1 instructor, a Hormone Cure Practitioner, and a part of the Herbal Medicine for Women Course.
