Modern Day Goddess
As a part of the training for me to become a Red Drum Carrier I was asked to write a short essay on what the concept of a Modern Day Goddess means to me.
This is that essay.
Modern Day Goddess
To me a Modern Day Goddess is a person who is fully embodied within herself.
She values herself as a person.
She loves herself for who she is.
She stands up for herself in the face of injustice.
She stands up for others.
She lives a life of compassion.
She lives a life of authenticity.
She strives to makes herself a better person.
She strives to make the world a better place.
She celebrates herself.
She celebrates others.
She lifts others up.
When a woman is fully herself, she does not seek to tear others down, or even thinks thoughts of their downfall in her head.
All of these things will look different for each person, for each of us is on our own path and must find the areas of our life that we need to work on personally, that we struggle with, whether it’s movement, food, our work, our relationships, any number of things.
What matters is that we are accepting of where we, and others, are on our journey; that we accept this with trust and love, and know that it can always be different, all we need to do is change the way we think about and react to whatever situation we are in.
No one will ever be perfect, this is never the point, the point is to always be striving to be the best you can be, and to be putting that out in to the world, in whatever way that matters to you.
